Description
The BCAAs the branched chain amino acids are L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine. They belong to the group of essential amino acids (which cannot be produced by the body itself).
These 3 essential amino acids are crucial for muscle building and muscle recovery after training, because they activate protein synthesis(1)
BCAAs are important for maintaining muscle mass and optimizing glycogen stores in the muscles.BCAAs help reduce muscle breakdown during training (2). They are also the only amino acids that can be broken down into glucose when the glycogen stores become depleted during sports. Muscle breakdown is then the result. Supplement with BCAAs Immediately before, during and immediately after training ensures a faster recovery and prevents loss of muscle mass during training.
Strategic intake of BCAAs (so immediately before, during and immediately after training, best in combination with fast carbohydrates) can contribute to:
- growth and maintenance of muscle mass
- improved protein synthesis
- an accelerated recovery after strength and endurance training
- less muscle stiffness
